Key Responsibilities
Florists will craft bouquets, flower boxes, vase arrangements, table centrepieces, wreaths, and customised displays for occasions ranging from birthdays and anniversaries to funerals and festive holidays. Daily tasks include receiving, inspecting, and conditioning fresh flowers; watering indoor plants; wrapping and packaging orders for walk-ins, online sales, and deliveries; and coordinating with delivery staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Additional duties involve monitoring stock levels, minimising waste through proper care, operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, and maintaining clean, hygienic workspaces. Staff will also support seasonal promotions, visual merchandising, and marketing campaigns as needed.
Requirements and Preferred Skills
While previous experience as a Florist, Floral Designer, or Flower Shop Assistant is preferred, professional certification or formal training is advantageous but not mandatory. Essential qualities include strong creativity with an excellent sense of colour and balance, solid knowledge of fresh flowers and foliage, and meticulous attention to detail. Candidates should possess outstanding communication skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment. Physical capability to lift supplies and willingness to work flexible shifts—including weekends, evenings, and public holidays—are required.
